The Role

Patient Care Coordinator job description

The Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) position is designed to be a hands-on, immersive experience to prepare individuals for a future in healthcare. PCCs will gain extensive experience assisting with outpatient procedures, scribing for electronic medical records, and performing administrative tasks. PCCs will develop excellent interpersonal skills by working closely with providers and interacting directly with patients, and gain a well-rounded understanding of the healthcare system.

Assisting with outpatient procedures

Work alongside providers during a broad array of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatological procedures.

Scribing & administrative tasks

Scribe for electronic medical records, facilitate prior authorizations, schedule appointments, and manage medical reports for providers.

Strong mentor relationships

Benefit from mentorship with the providers at Skin and Laser Dermatology. PCCs are trained on site and encouraged to ask questions.

Publishing opportunities

Recently, three PCCs became published authors with their reports in prestigious medical journals, including JAMA Dermatology and Cancer Treatment and Research Communications.

Successful candidates will have graduated from a four-year university with a background in healthcare or the sciences and will be pursuing a career in healthcare. We offer both a one-year (14 month) and a two-year (26 month) option to candidates. Driver's license required. Applicants must have a reliable source of transportation to both the McLean and Woodbridge office.
